What is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) comes directly from your own blood - it is truly a 100% natural treatment without any foreign (synthetic) substances. It contains a rich milieu of growth factors, including a platelet concentration up to 5x that of your actual blood, that improves skin elasticity and improves regeneration of chronically damaged skin. PRP can also stimulate stem cells around the area of native hair follicles, thus stimulating scalp hair growth.

PRP has 7 fundamental proteins: platelet derived growth factors (PDGF), transforming growth factor–β (TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF), and adhesive proteins – fibrin, fibronectin, and vitronectin.

What is Microneedling?

Also known as collagen induction therapy, this is a minimally invasive treatment to rejuvenate the skin. A device with fine needles creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin (usually 1-2mm, which trigger the body to create new collagen and elastin.

How is it done?

A healthcare professional will ask you some specific questions regarding your medical history, including history of bleeding or clotting disorders, infections, and any medications.
After application of numbing cream, we will have you either sit on a stationary chair or lie down on a bed provided by our team in preparation for the procedure.
Using a small needle, we will draw a sample of your blood. The amount of the sample depends on where the PRP will be injected. For example, the amount of blood taken for injection into the scalp for was 20 milliliters. This is slightly larger than one teaspoon.
The blood is placed into a centrifuge. This is a machine that spins around very quickly, causing the blood components to separate. We use the “double-spin” technique to enhance the PRP purification process and eliminate any red blood cells (RBCs).
A technologist takes the separated plasma, adds an activating factor, and prepares it for injection into the affected area.

Is there scientific evidence to back PRP?

Yes! Our physician-led team understands that many services advertised today are not necessarily backed by scientific evidence. The term “fad” is used to describe these intense, almost viral infatuations, many of which are short-lived. We take a strong stance in making sure you have the most accurate facts available to you without the skew of media
PRP gained momentum as early as 2010 for facial aesthetic applications. In 2013, celebrities endorsed PRP via social media, even providing their own videos as testimonials. However, scientific literature with rigorous study methods showing the beneficial effects of PRP has only been published within the past couple years.

Are there risks with PRP?

PRP is an especially safe treatment option with no risk of allergic reaction because it is your own blood. Risks involved are those related to obtaining your blood for PRP preparation. Infection at the blood draw site, bleeding, nerve damage, and air entry into the vein are very rare, especially in the hands of your healthcare-aesthetician. Some clients may feel uneasy (including feelings of warmth and dizziness) with blood draws, which is sometimes referred to as vasovagal syncope or “near-fainting.”
Please let our team know if you have any medical problems related to your blood, including a history of easy bleeding, low platelets or any infections.

Does it hurt? When will the redness go away?

For the PRP Facial (“Vampire Facial”), we have created our own custom, anesthesiologist-backed numbing solution which is applied immediately after we clean your the face. Microneedling uses a circular array very, very fine needles that penetrate the skin at a depth of 0.5 – 2.0mm. This approach avoids the sharp pain of multiple injections in the face, but there may still be some discomfort during the procedure around bony areas such as the forehead and nose.

Some people may experience a mild burning sensation that accompanies the redness of the face. Rest assured that this pain is temporary and self-limiting. Facial redness get down significantly over 24 hours and completely within 3 days, although effects vary between clients. Those receiving more involved treatments can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) after the procedure after discussion with your treatment specialist. We generally do not recommend taking ibuprofen-containing products unless you are taking them for a chronic pain condition.

Scalp injections are typically tolerated very well, even without any numbing solutions. You will witness some fullness in the injection areas, which is the PRP after it is deposited under your scalp to penetrate hair follicles. This will disappear within 24 hours.

Your treatment specialist will provide you with a printed sheet of post-procedure instructions at the end of your treatment. We strongly recommend that you do not wash your face or hair for the rest of the day.

How much does it cost?

A pricing sheet for our services is available upon request. We offer discounts for series-of-3 treatments (highly recommended), groups of 3 or more people, and client referrals. We also provide individualized microneedling treatments (e.g. tattoo removal, other parts of the body), and pricing will be determined at the time of our consultation.

A $200 deposit is required prior to confirming your scheduled treatment. This deposit is fully refundable up until 24 hours prior your appointment.

PRPmobile accepts multiple methods of payment including Credit Card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover), cash and check. Payments via PayPal, Venmo, and Chase Zella are also accepted.

Do you offer botox, laser treatments, or fillers as part of your service?

Botox treatments can provide additional benefits for wrinkles in areas around the forehead and around the eyes. However, it is our standard practice to discuss this option with interested clients as part of the 2nd or subsequent treatment. This method will allow us to first determine the impact of the PRP treatment itself without mixing results from 2 different therapies. Reducing excess botox use helps to prevent botox side effects and is more cost-effective for you.

Would PRP conflict with my current facial treatment?

We will discuss your current and prior treatment history during the initial consultation. Generally, we defer to your current doctor regarding the minimum waiting time needed before receiving PRP treatments with PRPmobile.

We recommend waiting 3-4 weeks after your prior procedure with your doctor before scheduling a PRP treatment with us. Similarly, we recommend that you wait 3-4 weeks after your PRP Facial or Hair Restoration therapies prior to scheduling any procedures with your plastic surgeon or dermatologist.
